West Branch manure and lime boost corn oats and hay yields
Five year field trials by Paul Pownall near West Branch show manure and limestone raise corn yield by 56 bushels per acre, oats by 146 bushels, and hay with clover and timothy. Adding rock phosphate or complete fertilizer increased yields but not enough to cover costs, with weather and soil factors affecting results.
