December existing home sales rise amid gradual housing recovery
Existing home sales rose 2.4 percent to a 5.04 million annual pace in December with first time buyers remaining scarce. For 2014 sales fell 3.1 percent, while mortgage rates eased and lending standards loosened. The Leading Economic Index gained 0.5 percent and manufacturing showed expansion though slower in January.
