Tokyo AP reports American planes won another jet battle over Korea as Allied ground troops recaptured Yongwol, a tungsten mining town in east central Korea. About 500 women riflemen were seen among a Red Korean force of 1,500 seven miles south of Yongwol. F-84 Thunderjets shot down a MiG-15.

Joseph Nemec Jr. of Cedar Rapids died Tuesday morning at Jackson Park hospital Chicago after a Friday trip as a United Packinghouse Workers of America representative. He was World War II veteran and member of several fraternal orders. Survived by wife Lenora two sons Donald and Richard and his parents and sister. Services 2 30 p m Saturday at Janeba funeral home with burial in Bohemian National Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday after 5 p.m.
Cora Alberta Hockaday 67 of 827 Fifth avenue SE widow of John Hockaday died at 12 15 a.m. Wednesday after a long illness. Born Audubon Sept 8 1883 she lived in Cedar Rapids 40 years and worked as a saleslady at Martin dry goods. Survived by two brothers John Mick Van Meter and George Mick Spencer and a sister Stella Mohler Laurens. Services 1 30 p.m. Friday at Barta Hesser chapel conducted by Dr Galen Lee Rose. Burial Cedar Memorial cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday.
Cedar Rapids widow Mrs. Ernest Anderson aged 70 died at 6 30 p m Tuesday in a Cedar Rapids nursing home. Born July 6 1895 in Cord Arkansas she leaves husband three sons Ernest J D and Russell of Cedar Rapids Paul of Buffalo a daughter Mrs Vivian Avis of Waterloo and two sisters Mrs Lucy Latting of Traey and Mrs Ales Sutherland of Arkansas. Services set for 2 p m Thursday at Brady mortuary with Rev Frank Ward.
Mrs Ray Williams a Cedar Rapids resident aged 34 died in Traverse City Michigan Sunday from a heart ailment. She is survived by her husband her father Floyd A Fesler a sister Mrs Manfred Finley and her grandparents Mr and Mrs William H Fesler of Cedar Rapids with whom she lived. Services were held Tuesday at Martinsen funeral home Traverse City.
Carrie Licetta Booth widow of Dr. Charles N. Booth of 845 First Avenue SE Cedar Rapids died Tuesday after a brief illness. Services will be held at Turner chapel at 1 30 p m Thursday by Rev Herman N Benner First Baptist Church. Cremation to follow. Friends may call at the chapel before 1 p m Thursday as casket will not be opened after the service.
Arthur R. Morris and his wife with two children occupy 262 Twelfth Street NW in a second floor apartment. Judge Floyd Philbrick granted a temporary injunction restraining Sadie Rains from turning off lights and heat, with a $300 bond set and a permanent hearing not yet scheduled. Morris seeks $200 damages and a permanent injunction to keep possession unaffected. He rented the unit October 6, 1950 for $60 monthly, rent paid through February 5.
Robert Benish, 32, of route 2 pled guilty to a drunk driving charge and received 60 days in Linn county jail by Judge Floyd Philbrick. Cedar Rapids police arrested him about 10 p.m. Tuesday after erratic driving on First Avenue E near 14th Street. A passing motorist reported spotting a possible drunk driver.
William Wells age 27 of 1341 M avenue NE and James Turnbull age 18 of 1121 Sixth street NW pled guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Judge Floyd Philbrick sentenced them to 30 days suspended in Linn County Jail. The acts involved a 16 year old girl in December.
Republicans split on repeal with a long list opposing and not recorded while a house probe into the agriculture department looms. A separate bill sought to cap class B and C beer permits to towns of 50 or more, likely curbing roadhouse licenses. Subcommittees were named to handle appropriation bills in the Iowa senate.

The Defense Department announced 46,201 Korean War casualties as of midnight Friday, up 1,064 from the prior week. Among them 7,499 deaths include 6,693 killed in action, 780 fatally wounded, and 26 later listed as missing in action.
