Levy District Plans One Computer For Every Six Students
Cedar Rapids School District considers a new technology levy to fund about 1000 computers yearly for four years plus network systems and staff training. The plan would cost about 2 million annually for hardware and software, with a 0.94 percent per thousand property tax increase and 1.2 million more for instructional supplies if approved. The district currently has 1,500 computers serving 17,692 students, many outdated, and would seek to update materials across grade levels.
