Hog Producers Seek Higher Temporary Support Price
Des Moines AP. Hog producers from ten Midwestern states voted for immediate action to stop liquidation of brood sows and lightweight pigs. They urged extending the live hog price support to 200 to 350 pounds and adopting seasonal differentials to spread marketing. They also called for abandoning a planned $1.25 cut next fall and creating a single federal food administration to manage the entire food situation. The two day meeting aimed to prevent a spring pig crop drop harming pork supply and national needs.
