Iowa Kids Count report shows gains in health and education
The Child & Family Policy Center finds Iowa child well being improving in health and schooling, but family economics lag. 2014 data show 42 000 three to four year olds not in preschool, 7751 fourth-graders not proficient in reading, and 110 000 children in poverty, with Linn and Johnson counties noting declines in abuse and teen births.
