Iowa City to study black student housing history with grants
The University of Iowa began admitting black students in the 1870s but housing was segregated. A private group funded two dorms for Black students in Iowa City, Tate Arms for men and Federation Home for women, now receiving an 1800000 grant to develop educational materials and nominate the buildings to the National Register.
