Inmate Assaults Officer at Mount Pleasant Prison
A correctional officer at the Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility was assaulted by inmate Darrell Ballard 24 after being told to drop an item. Ballard, jailed for a sex offense, triggered an emergency alarm as staff fought the disturbance in Living Unit 3B. The officer was treated and the case will be forwarded to Henry County Attorney for prosecution.

Applicants for Iowa 6th Judicial District judge interviews
In Linn County Chief Judge Patrick Grady announced that 17 attorneys have applied to the 6th Judicial Nominating Commission for the vacancy created by Judge Stephen Jackson Jr. leaving for a U.S. magistrate post.
