Ernie Els defeated Aaron Baddeley in a playoff to win the Sony Open in Honolulu. The victory makes Els the first player in 14 years to win the season’s first two PGA Tour events. He faced a tough finish after missing the 10th green but rallied with a clutch chip and birdie.
Aaron Baddeley matched Ernie Els at the Sony Open ending 16 under after a dramatic playoff. Els earned 810000 and rose to 1.81 million on the money list as Baddeley, 21, drilled clutch birdies to push the event to a second playoff hole.
Meghann Shaughnessy rallied from a set down to beat Elena Bovina 5-7 6-2 6-4 in Melbourne advancing to the Australian Open quarterfinals.
