Alliant Energy Faces Probe Over Energy Costs and Rates
Iowa utility regulator IUB will review Alliant Energy’s contracting practices and compliance with a merger rate freeze. Chair Allan Thoms said the board will examine reliance on high priced short term power and pass through of fuel costs via the energy cost adjustment. Alliant cites natural gas prices as the main driver of recent cost increases and notes the rate freeze lasts to 2002.
