Campus homicides down in 1999 study reports

The Education Department said 1999 saw 11 campus homicides, a 54 percent drop from 24 in 1998, while overall on campus crime accounted for 19 percent of incidents. Hate crimes rose across 1997 to 1999, totaling 2,067 by 1999, with assaults over 90 percent of offenses.
