Fifty eight people were dead or missing after a Scandinavian jetliner crashed on a hill near Ankara and a U S Navy P 4 M reconnaissance plane disappeared in Turkey. A British search plane sighted wreckage in the Taurus mountains.
Investigators sought to solve the sudden plunge of a Capital Airlines Viscount killing all 50 aboard as it dropped straight down into a swampy ravine near Ankara. CAB teams would study wreckage over 2 to 3 weeks and a hearing was planned in 6 to 8 weeks.
President Eisenhower will travel to Japan starting around June 20 on the way home from Russia. The White House announced he invited Crown Prince Akihito and his wife to visit the United States during the trip.
