Giant Windmills Outshine Atom Power for Industry
Percy H. Thomas of the Federal Power Commission argues windmills rival atomic energy as a cheaper, practical power source. A 500-foot turbine with 7.5 megawatts could serve about 50 000 people, costing roughly 562 500 dollars at prewar prices, with wind as a free, nonpolluting fuel and simpler, safer operation.
