NCAA cuts hit Division III wrestling nationals
The NCAA reduces Division III national qualifiers from 200 to 160 for 1988 in Waterloo, while Division I remains at 330. Coaches from Coe and Cornell lament the cutback, citing funding, Title IX pressures, and a tighter field that could widen weight brackets and lessen participation. The NWCA dual meet site bid process continues with interest from Iowa, Des Moines, Reno, and Penn State.
