U.S. Boycotts World Court Nicaragua Case
President Reagan will not participate in Nicaragua's suit against the United States at the International Court of Justice. The move marks the first U.S. walkout from a World Court case since 1946, with officials calling the proceedings politically driven and stressing future refusals to comply if rulings oppose U.S. interests. The Nicaraguan foreign ministry condemned the decision as a negation of basic international principles.
