Plans for World Trade Center towers announced in New York
A $350 million World Trade Center project was unveiled with twin 110 story towers to be the world’s tallest. Located on Manhattan’s lower West Side, the center aims to unify port trade and serve as an international clearinghouse. Construction funded by the Port Authority could begin in 1965, with stages through 1970, and towers housing about 10 million square feet of rent space.

The project includes 7500 square feet of street floor space plus 30000 square feet of basement warehouse and service area. The ramp will connect to the Killian store on second third and fourth floors bridging the alley above the second floor. City officials say current legislation gives authority for the plan.

White boy convicted in 1963 killing after church bombing
A 16 year old white youth, Larry Joe Sims, was found guilty by an all white jury of second degree manslaughter in the September 15 slaying of Virgil Ware, a 13 year old Negro, following the 16th Street Baptist church bombing. Sims received seven months in the county jail.

Survival Exercise In Marlton Draws Civil Defense Pickets
About 200 volunteers joined a 27 hour Operation Togetherness survival drill in a Nike site bunker near Marlton New Jersey while outside 45 pickets from groups including Women internationa l League for Peace and Freedom and Women Strike for Peace protested. Washington AP The Federal Trade Commission proposed new rules to require health danger warnings on every cigarette pack and on all advertisements including radio and TV. A public hearing is set for March 16 to consider bans on claims that smoking is harmless or that one brand is less dangerous. The commission also urged government standard tests for smoke ingredients and said many ads may violate false or misleading advertising laws.
