James Patterson 82 of 1200 Tenth Street Marion died of a heart attack Monday afternoon in an ambulance en route to a Cedar Rapids hospital. A retired salesman, he was born Sept 25 1871 in Morrisania New York and moved to Iowa in 1880 and Marion 50 years ago from Hedrick. He was a graduate of the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School at Vinton and a longtime Marion Methodist Church member who taught Sunday school for 25 years. Surviving are sister Miss Bessie Patterson and brother Dr John Patterson Des Moines. Services Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Murdoch chapel with burial in Oak Shade cemetery.
Mr and Mrs W J Liebe celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary at their Marion home. They will host relatives from Iowa Pennsylvania and Michigan at a Christian church dinner next Sunday. They married Jan 19 1904 in Sharon Center Indiana and moved from Iowa City to Marion 13 years ago. He is a retired farmer. they have a son D D and a daughter Mrs Carl Gill with seven grandchildren and a great grandchild. Guests include Mr and Mrs Orr Patterson of Iowa City, attendants at the wedding.
