30,000 Rookie Goes to Day-Sox

The Chicago White Sox signed 19-year-old catcher James Napier of Wasco California for an estimated $30,000, the club’s first high priced rookie since the bonus rule was rescinded. Napier bats and throws right handed, stands 5 feet 10 inches, and weighs 180 pounds. He played at Bakersfield Junior College and hit .422 for a semi pro club last summer. He will join Davenport in the class B Three-I league.
