Driver Flees Police After I-380 Crash Near Cedar Rapids
A Cedar Rapids driver Ernest Toby Gaston 35 fled after a pursuit that began for an equipment violation. He rear ended an SUV on I 380 near Diagonal Drive injuring no one. Gaston and his teen daughter were in the vehicle. He faces charges of attempting to elude and child endangerment.

Officer not at fault in pedestrian death case
Linn County Sheriff says a Cedar Rapids police officer who spoke with 34 year old Jesse Eaton shortly before he was hit by a car near the County Home Road off ramp was not at fault. Eaton declined a ride and walked into oncoming traffic where he died. an autopsy found cannabinoids and opiates but not evidence of drug impairment at the time. The driver who struck Eaton was also deemed not at fault.
