Linn County weighs nearly 3.4 million in capital improvements

Suspect in Marion nursing home standoff dated hostage claim
Marion police say Jack L. Hays, 27, of Burlington, dated a nursing home worker he held hostage at Crestview Acres. He entered with a loaded gun after the woman refused to talk, triggering a nine hour standoff that ended with his surrender. The worker was uninjured.
