William Roby pleaded guilty to third degree kidnapping and third degree sexual abuse in a Cedar Rapids case after jury selection began. He admitted holding a 62 year old woman for nearly 10 hours on May 15, 2011 and sexually assaulting her. The sentencing date is pending.
The Iowa Humane Alliance opened a 2400 square foot regional spay neuter clinic at 6540 Sixth St SW Cedar Rapids with surgeries priced at 40 for cats and 65 for neutering male dogs 80 for female dogs and 35 for feral cats. The opening includes a noon ribbon cutting on Feb 16 and an open house 1 to 5 pm. The group aims to sterilize about 35 animals per day and plans subsidies for low income owners while working with rescue groups.
