Michael Connelly shifts the action from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in Void Moon. The crime novel, 400 pages, Little Brown, 24.95, debuts on publishers weekly hardcover fiction list at number 14.
Cassidy Black on parole after a Las Vegas heist joins ex lover Max Freeling dead in the job and six years in prison. She relocates to Los Angeles to sell Porsches and plans another caper with Leo Renfro leading back to the Cleopatra casino. A cat and mouse chase drives Vegas and L A confrontations as Connelly expands the setup.
The review finds the book uneven as it departs from Connelly’s LAPD Bosch world. Characters intrigue yet feel superficial with Cassidy best developed while Jack Karch reads like comic book villain. Prose spirals into laborious descriptions, though it remains a page turner and a solid read.
A humorous debut by Cami Ka Spencer about Greg Alston dating Adrian in Texas. Family tensions rise as his mother Louise and sister Shreese return, while a meddling pastor and chaotic friends test his plans to propose. A readable, entertaining but predictable tale with likable characters.
In this Regency romance Mistress introduces Lady Juliana Dare and Connor Reed as New Year’s Eve sparks. Juliana seeks help for her shipping line after her father’s disappearance while Connor hides stolen dispatches. A tense voyage and rekindled love unfold with supporting characters enriching the tale.
Larry Johnson reviews Jerry Stahl's Di A Love Story about teenage love in the Flower Power era. Bobby Stark, a Jewish teen from Pittsburgh, navigates a troubled home with a drug-filled mother and a serious romance with Michelle as they journey toward San Francisco. The humor hinges on odd family dynamics and a title hint that's redeemed by genuine affection and coming‑of‑age themes.
