Woman Dies in Crash North of Fort Dodge
A Fort Dodge woman identified as Delores Rogers, 21, died when the car she rode in skidded on icy pavement and struck a gasoline transport truck. Driver Daniel A. Thornton, 28, of Gilmore City, was hospitalized non critically. Trucker Joseph W. Linley of Des Moines was uninjured. The wreck occurred about a mile north of Fort Dodge on Highway.

Jerry Marshall aged 14 from Columbus Junction is hospitalized in Muscatine with a chest wound from a shooting Sunday night. Kent Swisher, 13, is in his father's custody and under investigation for the incident said to have occurred across from the theater after a matinee. Swisher admitted prior trouble with Marshall and claimed he was tired of being beaten. The .38 caliber revolver used was described as old, and an operation to remove the bullet near Marshall’s spine was anticipated.

Three Davenport men, Verne M Johnson Harlan Deem and William F Clough, were killed when their plane exploded mid air near Ridgely Tennessee during a rain storm. Eyewitnesses report the craft exploded and wreckage covered about a half mile. The men had left Davenport January 6 for a trip to Cuba and had Cuban money on them.
