Jackson County Faces 853000 Unpaid Mental Health Bills
Jackson County officials attribute 853000 dollars in unpaid bills to the former Jackson County mental health director Diane Blackburn who enrolled about a dozen clients for services with no funding. New director Sharon Barnhart said the full extent was not known and Blackburn was fired for double billing Johnson and Jackson counties before being hired by the Iowa Veterans Home. The Attorney General's Office is reviewing spending in Johnson County Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities to see if charges apply for double billing or falsifying time cards.
