Sunday School Slumps Spark Denominational Education Reforms
Sunday school attendance fell for the sixth straight year in 1966, though numbers remain high at 3.6 million in Methodist churches. Leaders from several denominations see the trend as a prompt to overhaul religious education, emphasize weekday instruction, teacher training, and adult education to strengthen home-based religious training.
