Mayor Ron Corbett proposes extending the 1 percent local option sales tax for 20 years to fund Cedar Rapids flood protection and street repairs. A May 3 special election could be held if residents approve. A telephone survey of about 400 households funded by Corbett shows support and also covers cameras and enforcement.
Former University of Iowa football player Abe Satterfield faced a possible 35 year term but agreed to testify against Ce dric Everson III in a sexual assault case. Satterfield described the accuser as the aggressor and offered limited detail while the trial focused on the October 14, 2007 incident at Hillcrest Residence Hall.
