In Casey Illinois a Detroit mother Mary Borowicz 37 her daughter Joan 17 and son Leonard 19 plus pilot William Maycock of Maycock Flying Service were killed when a private plane crashed three miles west of Casey and burned. The family had chartered the flight to Phoenix Arizona. witnesses said the craft exploded on impact during an attempted forced landing in a cornfield.

Born May 28 1870 in New Providence Iowa she married Dr. Lord April 2 1894 in Wasioja Minnesota and moved to Cedar Rapids in 1896. Active in Central Park Presbyterian Church missionary and Ladies Aid societies and head of the missionary society for ten years she also belonged to Chapter DE of the P E O Woman's Club Tourist Club and Sunshine Mission board. Surviving are two daughters Mrs. Harry O. Cutler and Mrs. Marvin Gillham a son Richard Lord three grandchildren a brother John W. Leedy and nephew John L. Leedy. Funeral 4 p.m. Sunday at Central Park Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. C. H. Hook with burial in MANTERVILLE Minnesota after services. Friends may call Turner chapel until 11 a.m. Sunday.
