Lake Macbride rehab delayed awaiting federal permit
The Lake Macbride rehabilitation project faces a two week delay due to a pending U S Army Corps of Engineers permit. Project coordinator Paul Sleeper expects final approval after a 30 day public comment period ends today with rock hauling to begin mid next week. Pettiecord Construction will hire 25 local dump trucks to place rip rap along 10 miles of shoreline and build silt control structures plus seven fishing jetties and underwater reefs for fish habitat. Weather will influence the 85 working day schedule as frost remains near surface and lake levels rise this spring.

Iowa Child founder seeks private funds for Coralville project
Ted Townsend of the Iowa Child Foundation said private donors must back about two thirds of the 293 million Coralville complex before approaching the Vision Iowa Board for 75 million. The 20 story educational tourist center on 80 acres near I 80 I 380 would draw 1.5 million visitors yearly, include a rain forest and an education research center.
