Winter wheat benefits from snow
The Agriculture Department reports winter wheat planted last fall is in fair to good condition as of January 1 1979 with most Great Plains snow cover aiding protection while drought months loom in January. Production forecast for 1979 winter wheat was 1.44 billion bushels, up 15 percent from last year though final output depends on weather ahead.

ConAgra Announces 3 for 2 Stock Split and Higher Dividend
ConAgra Inc of Omaha Nebraska said its board approved a three for two stock split and a 34 percent rise in its quarterly dividend.
