In a club lead by West and a heart shortage, South secures a six spade contract only if hearts split or the defense errs. East ducked a club to set up declarer pressure, and the defense misplayed on the next trick, enabling the slam to succeed.
West leads the jack of clubs and South seizes the chance. South draws trumps, cashes diamonds, and ruffs to reach a hand with a winning nine. He overcomes East's discards on the last two trumps and secures the contract.
