All officers of Perpetual Savings and Loan Assn were re elected Tuesday. Sutherland Dows chairs the board, Burton R. Hynden is president, Duane Arnold is vice president, Hal D. Haines secretary, A T Pleune treasurer, Mildred A. Lodge assistant secretary, L W Doty assistant treasurer, and William C. Fletcher joins the board. Three year terms go to Tudor Wilder and Pleune with Dows Hynden Arnold Crissman remaining on the board. The annual report shows savings balances at 46 615 750 and dividends of 1 864 600 paid to accountholders in 1966.
The association reports an investment of 3 800 000 dollars in mortgage loans and a year end total of loans amounting to 42 776 000 dollars.
Kenneth Hall, 18, of 1120 J Street SW, jailed for 150 days after Municipal Judge Loren Hullinger Jr. revoked five 30 day suspended sentences. The charges stem from giving false information to police eluding police speeding and frequenting a tavern as a minor and reckless driving. Hall had claimed he would enter the armed forces but did not enlist and boasted of “putting one over on police.”
Hunters may use a 1072 acre tract north of Viola next fall pending state approval. Linn County Conservation Director George Hamilton said a state conservation board team will inspect the area next week and approval is required before county action.
The commission authorized Hamilton to enter a one year option to purchase land along the Wapsipinicon river at 100 dollars per acre. Officials plan to keep the area in a natural state as a county forest. Hamilton said it will not be a park but will provide hunting for quail, rabbits, and deer.
Larry L Sutliff 24 of 906 Wilson Ave SW was fined 50 dollars total for intoxication and resisting an officer. Police used force to subdue him after his arrest shortly after 11 30 p m Wednesday at A Avenue and Seventh Street NE. Municipal Judge Loren Hul linger Jr fined 35 dollars on the resisting charge and 15 dollars on the intoxication count plus court costs.
