IOWA City man charged in federal case over threats to prosecutors
Samuel P. McElmeel 32 faces three counts of interstate transmission of threats after sending emails to Johnson County Attorney Rachel Zimmermann Smith and assistant prosecutor Jeff Brunelle and others vowing to cut faces and harm a prosecutor’s family. The emails also targeted KCJJ Radio, Oregon officials, and even President Biden. He pleaded not guilty and a trial is set for Feb 26 with detention pending.
