Court of Appeals bans two DHS removal practices
The Iowa Court of Appeals reversed a lower court ruling forcing the Department of Human Services to halt two removal practices. The case centered on Jessica Coronado whose daughter was placed in foster care in 2009 without her consent. The appeals court found Coronado lacked standing and that the practices posed no immediate threat, allowing DHS to resume them. Coronado's attorney vows further review with the Iowa Supreme Court.
