Iowa Straw Poll to continue amid GOP support
Iowa Republican leaders voted unanimously to keep the Iowa Straw Poll after assurances from the Republican National Committee. Jeff Kaufmann defended the event as a grass roots gauge and pledged an August poll location, with Ames previously hosting and Des Moines and Boone among suggested sites. The poll dates back to 1979 and has drawn both praise and criticism from party members over the years.
