Duke burst to a 93-86 win over Georgetown as Dahntay Jones scored 22 points and Daniel Ewing 19. Despite 5 assists on 17 first half baskets, Duke improved ball movement in a 15-1 second-half run to seize control.
The nation’s unbeatens collide as Duke hosts Wake Forest while Alabama, Creighton, Kentucky, Louisville and Maryland post SEC and Conference USA wins. Pettway and Dudley lead Alabama. Linde and Korver spark Creighton. Camara Fitch and Bogans star for Kentucky. Brown and Whitehead pace Louisville. Randle Nicholas Blake lift Maryland.
Iowa freshman Jeff Horner scored 10 points with eight assists as the Hawkeyes upset Northwestern 66 63 on the road. Brunner and Worley traded critical rebounds and misses in the final seconds while Boyd led Iowa with 12 points as Northwestern failed to win a Big Ten opener for the Bark.
Iowa topped Northwestern 68 63 while Indiana beat Penn State 78 65 and Michigan 66 65 over Wisconsin. Tonight Ohio State visits Michigan State at 6 p.m. with Iowa guard Jared Reiner posting a career high 16 rebounds in the win. Reiner notes road success matters as Iowa eyes a Big Ten shift.
Mer rill Andrews hit a six foot jumper with 1.8 seconds left to lift Southwest Missouri State to a 74 72 victory over Drake in double overtime. Kellen Easley and Shelton Colwell each scored 17 for the Bears while Luke McDonald led Drake with 27 points.
Jefferson High School will induct six into its boys basketball Hall of Fame at halftime during the game with Washington. Inductees are Gay Cahn RJ Noonan Dave Long Bob Driscoll Cam Johnson and Tory Meiberg. A reception follows in the cafeteria.
