Cedar Rapids city tax hike adds 1.29 million to fund
City Auditor Robert McMahan says last year’s rise in Cedar Rapids taxable values will bring 1,291,594 more into the general fund next fiscal year. The 9.06 percent increase follows an 8.10 per thousand levy, boosting tax income from 13,988,605 to 15,280,199, though taxes are about 75 percent of the fund.

Corps opens barges parking at McGregor Iowa plants
The Army Corps of Engineers granted three year permits for four barge parking areas to ease Mississippi River congestion in Clayton and McGregor Iowa. A Pike's Peak site was denied. Parking should cut Cassville Wis delays and save about 98000 gallons of diesel per season while not harming bald eagle or Higgins Eye clam habitats.
