Young Woman Kathryn Sullivan Suicide Ruled by Medical Examiner
Kathryn Sullivan 20 of Marengo died from a drug overdose in what the medical examiner ruled suicide. She was treated at Marengo hospital and University Hospitals Iowa City after ingesting drugs early Thursday at her parents home. Born December 17, 1955, she was a Marengo High School graduate and had completed her sophomore year at the University of Iowa. Survived by her parents Dewey Sullivan and two sisters Mrs Keith Dietrich Oakland and Mrs Paul Hubacek Des Moines. Services Saturday at 2 at Hoover-Valentine's with calling after 7 Friday.

Marion firemen answered two calls Thursday. A clothes dryer fire at 125 School Street caused smoke damage to the clothes and basement, probable lint or electrical fault. At 4488 Pepperwood Hill a burning log damaged carpet and trim with basement smoke damage.

Fire damages farm building near West Union
Damage estimated at 400 dollars after a morning fire at the Daniel Loftus farm three miles east of West Union on highway 18. A passing motorist alerted Mrs. Loftus shortly before seven. West Union firemen arrived about an hour later. a small amount of corn in a granary was damaged. Firemen suspect an electrical short as the cause.

Training for Iowa teachers approved amid rule changes
Iowa will require human relations training for most of its 30,000 teachers to obtain or renew certificates after Aug 31, 1980. Training may be taken at state universities or through in service programs.
