Linn deputies honored for life saving work in 2014
Four Linn County Sheriff’s Office deputies were commended for life saving actions in 2014. Deputy James Dunn rescued a 5 year old in Hi awatha, Deputy Taylor Buhmeyer and Deputy Alan Bennett stopped a suicide attempt at the Linn County Jail, and Deputy Tythe VanWeelden helped save an inmate in a separate incident. All were recognized at the Linn County Employee Recognition Breakfasts.

Suspect Arrested in I C Accused of Christmas Shooting
Lo renzo Jones 29 of Iowa City and Chicago is accused of shooting two men on Christmas Day at a Chicago home. One victim died. the other listed in stable condition. Jones was arrested Dec 29 in Iowa City and waived extradition to Illinois. Jones has prior convictions in Johnson County.
