A panel report from the Iowa Association of School Boards recommends reducing teacher numbers to fund broader offerings such as more high school courses all day kindergarten and one computer per ten students. It notes small districts may need to merge to strengthen curriculums and suggests raising pupil teacher ratios to 1977 levels could save nearly 67 million dollars and 3,088 teaching jobs without lowering education quality. The document, by a 14 member committee, emphasizes reorganization sharing and technology.
