Icy Marion streets hinder plowing progress
Marion streets stayed icy despite sanding and plowing by city crews. One injury occurred in the past two days when Denise Williams 21 was hit by a skidding truck driven by Ernest Courtney 54 at Seventh Avenue and 26th Street around 4 30 p m Monday. No charges were filed. Street crews worked overnight and this morning but wind blew sand back onto the roads and cold temps limited salt effectiveness.

Broken sprinkler blamed for Westdale Mall flood
Water spread across three Westdale Mall stores Mother Care Jean Nicole and World Radio when a sprinkler line broke in a small storeroom near the stores. Mall manager Richard Waggoner said the leak was undetectable inside stores and caused drywall damage before vacuums restored normal operations.
