Men Show Job Gains in 2011 as Unemployment Drops
Labor Department data indicate men fared better than women in 2011 with unemployment falling from 10 percent to 8.7 percent for men while women declined from 8.6 to 8.3 percent. Younger workers and retirees gained more, while many men moved to lower paying health care and retail roles after losses in manufacturing and construction.
