Sunrise Energy Co op near Blairstown marks its first full year producing ethanol after a five month delay and lawsuits. The $12.5 million plant, Iowa's first farmer owned ethanol facility, now processes more than the projected five million gallons, creating 54 local jobs across the ethanol plant, cattle feedlot, and dairy. Lutefish Traditions At Day Fish Co In Small Minnesota Town

In Day Minnesota a tiny store operates Day Fish Co run by Walter and Roy Bolling with help from Billie Lindgren selling lutefisk a dried cod soaked in lye. The shop draws visitors from nearby states during October to January moving about 50 tons of lutefisk plus related Scandinavian foods. Prices have risen from 30 cents to 2.89 or 3.29 per pound for skinless lutefisk. The tradition draws both locals and out-of-town buyers amid humorous local lore.
