Cedar Rapids mayor rails at state world trade center plan
Cedar Rapids Mayor Don Canney argues the 30 million state investment for a world trade center should consider sites beyond Des Moines. He says Des Moines is the logical locale, but others want a public study and private funding to back Cedar Rapids plans. Governor Branstad defends Des Moines location citing access and proximity to business. House Speaker Don Avenson says Des Moines acted first. Canney suggests funding be used for a Cedar Rapids exposition center instead.
