Iowa City opens temporary homeless shelter in former Aldi
The shelter at 1534 S Gilbert St. begins this week amid heavy snow and subzero temps. Two Shelter House staff will operate daily from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. for two months, funded by city county United Way and others, with a reduced lease from Hodge Construction.
