Benton County crash kills Cedar Rapids resident
A single vehicle crash in Benton County left Nabintu Baguma 28 Cedar Rapids with injuries and Aziza Nikuze 40 Cedar Rapids dead after Baguma, attempting to pass a semi on Highway 30 near 18th Avenue, swerved into a south ditch. Several others, Olu sina Oladio Coker 46 Yaya Iddy 43 Zephyre N Kasigwa 50 and Baguma were injured.

An Iowa City woman Dezi P. Kriegler, 30, was arrested after a heroin overdose at her home 2635 West Winds Dr No 3 at 11 49 a m Monday. Kriegler admitted buying the heroin for the victim. overdose not fatal. Police found heroin and paraphernalia. charges include controlled substance violation and possession of a controlled substance.

Shamari K Smith and Shadae E Poindexter face weapons counts. Smith suspected of dominion or control of a firearm by a felon after a handgun was tossed during a foot chase near Taylor Drive and Tracy Lane on May 30.
