Alliant limited to 7 percent rate increase

Iowa regulators cut Alliant Energy proposed rate hike from 16 percent to 7 percent while using about 18 million from regulatory reserves to bolster higher revenues. An interim 7 percent increase remains in place for now, with a new filing planned in March to cover flood and ice storm recovery costs.

Iowa Utilities Board approves Alliant rate plan continuation

The Iowa Utilities Board allows Alliant Energy customers to keep current electric rates, sustaining increases since an interim March 2008 change. The board also permits about 25 million to cover Sutherland Unit 4 cancellation costs, the Marshalltown coal plant project canceled last year.

Ex smokers face higher diabetes risk after quitting
