Snowstorm Halts Iowa as Deaths Rise Across State
Heavy weekend snow in Iowa claimed multiple lives and forced school closures and travel disruptions. A Marion man died of a heart attack while snow blowing, another Iowa City man died at Mercy Hospital, and a truck crash near Ottumwa injured a teen driver. Rescue crews aided by snowplows battled fires and helped evacuate patients as counties reported rescues and weather-related incidents. The storm left over 20 inches this winter with an average 40 inches projected for the season.
