Iowa considers county lime program patterned after Wisconsin act
Proposed Iowa legislation would let county boards of supervisors produce and sell agricultural lime at cost to farmers with tax liens to recover costs. The plan mirrors Wisconsin 1933 statutes funded by WPA labor, with counties supplying lime and equipment while labor is provided by the WPA, aiming to employ relief workers and aid farming.

Lime prospect sparks Wisconsin soil uplift plan
Chapmans letter to George Field, WPA project manager at Madson, argues liming farmland raises long term output. He estimates production of 2,000,000 pounds of lime for Wisconsin soils will boost farmers income by at least 200 million dollars over ten to fifteen years, benefiting business and industry.
