Grassley named pres pro tempore and judiciary chair in new Congress
Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, 91, resumes pres pro tempore duties and chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee in the 119th Congress. The move places him third in the presidential line of succession behind the vice president and Speaker Johnson, who was reelected to lead the House. Grassley also joins Finance, Agriculture and Budget panels while Iowa Republicans maintain narrow majorities in Congress.
