Arthur Bachus of Bennett was re elected chairman of the Cedar county board of supervisors at the organizational meeting Thursday Also named for the Cedar county home relief and social welfare boards were Ned Morrow Ina Barewald W J Leinbaugh Alys Montz and John Buresh with Tipton Adv and other newspapers as official county papers. The meeting also set bounties of 10 cents for gopher or crow and 25 cents for ground hog.
The IRS formalized the ruling that special training and care for mentally or physically handicapped individuals may be deducted as medical expenses. Costs include institutional care meals lodging and instruction in Braille or lip reading when tied to medical care or needed schooling. If medical care is not the principal reason for stay only the medical portion is deductible.

A further account suit by Howard Langton and Adolph Trachta against Gerald Bissell is dismissed after they sought 105 dollars.
Rob ert L. Bentrim 33 of 219 Third Street NW and Clarence Kriz 33 of 1101 Sixth Street SE pled innocent in Linn County district court to criminal charges. Bentrim is accused of immoral acts with a 16 year old girl on December 16 and pled innocent Thursday. Kriz, who faces a false check charge, entered his plea Friday for passing a disputed 35 dollar check at a locker plant in Fairfax on December 4.
Empire Mutual Insurance Company sues Kenny Smith and W. J. Binney as partners in Kenny's Used Cars seeking 540 dollars after a check was dishonored by the bank. A 213.44 dollar account suit against O V Varva is filed by Melvin R. Peckosh and Ralph V. Adolph doing business as The Green Thumb. Willis Betzer sues Aubrey Smith for 85.06 dollars for auto damages after Betzer’s son Charles struck a hog owned by Smith on a road near Waubeek.
The will of Ethel M. Harrop who died December fifteenth has been admitted to probate. It names her son John as sole heir and executor without bond.
A $1 008 33 collection suit for rent on 100 acres north of Central City was filed Thursday against Ambrose and Ira Foley by Henry and Irma Drexler. A similar suit was dismissed by Edwin and Amanda Schmin ke. Defendants were Ordean and Lavonne Mathison. An extra assignment of non jury and equity cases will be made Monday at 2 p m. Court clerk Arthur Axmear reported the plan to assign trials through February 1.
President Eisenhower left Washington for his Gettysburg, Pennsylvania farm after a 24 hour stay. He was accompanied by General Alfred Gruenther, head of the American Red Cross, and Colonel Walter Tkach, assistant White House physician.
Thirteen students split between Manhattan high school and Manhattan college take college courses on campus. Juniors in college Spanish earn two A s and two B s while seniors in English Latin German and mathematics post eight A s seven B s and four OC s. Wilbur W. Albaugh of route 1 Marion died Thursday after a long illness. Born September 23, 1887 on his lifelong farm he married May 14, 1913 in Nevada, Iowa. Survived by his wife a daughter Mrs. James Callahan and two sisters Mrs. Bessie Van Note and Mrs. Ben Currell. He belonged to Marion lodge No. 6 A F and A M. Edward Solomon Foubert 90 of 1013 Second Street SW Cedar Rapids died in a local nursing home after a brief illness. He was born July 25, 1867 in Millersburg and lived in Cedar Rapids 33 years. Detective Capt. John Kuba's unit investigated the theft of a one horse sleigh from 612 Fifth Avenue SE. Joe Conway reported the sleigh missing over the last two days. tracks showed it pulled to an alley and hitched to a car. The sleigh, valued at $125, had been brought for painting and seat repair.

In Alameda California Raymond Peutz a 40 year old auto mechanic crawled under a car to repair the muffler. Police said he died of carbon monoxide poisoning after the motor was left running with garage doors open.
City officials announced Friday the reappointment of six officials to city commissions. James Fashimpaur Ervin F. Stepanek and A L Smulekoff were named to the Plan Commission with new five year terms. Wegner did not seek reappointment. Grim Kitterman and Zobac were reappointed to their posts with terms ending in 1961.
